INTRODUCTION: Acquired Taste's musical journey took flight in 2019 as Philip Seawell and Jackie Oleson united their talents and their shared love of singing harmonies from the Folk Rock era. Months of arduous rehearsal blossomed into a full repertoire, and, by 2021, their seamless vocal blend had woven enchantment across Central Texas, from intimate Hill Country supper clubs to glamorous Downtown Austin black tie events.
THE DUO EXPANDS: In 2022, they welcomed Jonathan Babiak whose bass guitar expanded their sound, infusing it with fresh energy while preserving the Acquired Taste brand—acoustic covers of such legendary and current stars -- Willie Nelson, Tom Petty, The Beatles, Bruce Springsteen, Chris Stapleton, Miley Cyrus, Darius Rucker, Billie Eilish, The Weekend , and many others.

PHIL SEAWELL
Phil Seawell was born in California, but grew up in Texas. His earliest musical memories center around his mother's record collection -- which ranged from orchestra, to jazz, to folk music, and much more. He was in the band and choir in high school and later majored in music education -- which led to teaching music and the other arts in the public schools as well as leading music in church settings. Phil is now semi-retired and is part owner of a business. He has three daughters, a son, and five grandsons.
JACKIE OLESON
Jackie also grew up in Texas. However, she spent many years in Minnesota where she raised her two sons. Her church there had a need for music leadership, so they called on Jackie. For many years, she used her experience in piano, singing, and guitar playing to organize praise team music for the worship services. After moving back to Texas, Jackie joined the choir at her new church home in Round Rock, serving there for many years. And then in 2019 she partnered up with Phil to form their singing duo, Acquired Taste.
JONATHAN BABIAK
Jonathan’s musical journey started with woodwinds through high school band and jazz band, then meandered for three years of music school. He spent five years as an audio technician working with premier entertainers in the 1980s. Jonathan’s midlife crisis was cured when he bought a used bass and taught himself how to play. For the last fifteen years he has played with friends. Recently retired, Jonathan’s renewed search for musical fulfillment brought him to join Phil and Jackie. He loves golden retrievers.

The Palomino is situated at the entrance of San Gabriel Park in Georgetown TX. It's a welcoming combination of pub and beer garden that is perfect for the whole family. They serve apps, snacks, salads, sandwiches, etc., but the featured items are the nine Signature Burgers, each branded with the Palomino logo. Choose one or build your own! There's a variety of beverages with 32 taps, including 24 beers, 4 ciders, and 4 wines. Make an evening of it as you groove to the smooth sounds of ACQUIRED TASTE.

Pint & Plow Brewing Company in Kerrville TX is a cozy, casual brewpub serving house-made craft beer, beer cocktails, wine, and more. The menu includes pizzas, sandwiches, salads, apps, and snacks for young and old -- much of which is sourced locally. The outdoor patio is pet and kid friendly, and it features a stage where you can groove to the smooth sounds of ACQUIRED TASTE.

THE CLUB @ Barons CreekSide in Fredericksburg TX offers a selection of their own excellent wines, Texas and International wines, and craft beers. The bistro menu has cheese plates, paninis, and weekly entrees such as chicken lasagna, pork Tenderloin, surf & turf. Try their awesome “Old fashioned” burger, pork chops, steaks, or German style sausages, sourced from a local butcher and grilled to order on the patio. Stay in their Alpine village and be steps away from a great meal and the smooth sounds of ACQUIRED TASTE.

Trailhead Beer Garden in Kerrville TX is at the end of the Kerrville River Trail, in the heart of the Schreiner University campus. Hike or bike along this six-mile long, 10-feet wide trail along the beautiful Guadalupe River. Finish your day with refreshing regional brews and tasty food truck fare,plus the mellow yet energetic sounds of Acquired Taste. This will be our third appearance on the Trailhead Stage,and we're looking forward to many more!

Cherrywood Coffeehouse is nestled in the historical charm of the Austin neighborhood for which it is named. Its delicious menu features diverse dishes that cater to different tastes and dietary preferences . Inside, art-decorated walls and rustic furniture lend a New Orleans flair. Outside, the beautiful dog-friendly patio offers an inviting respite while you indulge in a specialty coffee or one of their 25 beers on tap . . . and, of course, groove to the smooth sounds of ACQUIRED TASTE.

They have three great locations: This one is their production facility, vineyard, office, and wine club headquarters, with two tasting rooms located in Fredericksburg. Our goal is to make amazing wine, have great service and create a space that makes you feel like family.
